Art Appreciation

Many of today’s kids are becoming fun and wild about animated films. It seems
that every animated movies that have been showed in the cinemas were became
blockbusters. Every single motion are digitally mastered. That is what high
technology does today, to give finer and smoother appearance of the movie.
Behind these accomplishment were the animation layout artists.

One of these animation layout artists, was Vic Villacorta of Walt
Disney Australia. Imagine a modern filipino artist penetrates the world of
animation and what is more impressive here is that he is working in a
respected movie production, the Walt Disney. Of course, the point here is
that why local producer can not offer him the same job. Why they let him go.
Maybe he can do animated Combatron, Eklok, Planet of the Eyps and manymore
which is a more filipino-oriented object. About his works, he was the
animation layout artist of the hit movies like Lion King and Jungle. In
addition to his works, he also did the top rated cartoon television like
Scooby-doo, Adam’s Family, Flinstones, Tom and Jerry and many more. There
totally too many to list all of his animated works. By the way, he was
graduated of CARTOON INC. Hanna-Barbera Production at California.

Our choice of artists was not a traditional person where known for
their old masterpiece. Their works was too famous to be recognized them as a
hero. But this artist is a different story who focus on his profit. Maybe he
opted to join Walt Disney because to give his family a better life. Someday
his name will be known not just by few but by the many.

What i have here was actually my paper about our college’s internship program. I just want to publish it. Maybe somebody there can get an idea out this.

“Once the student gets the placement, the hardest the thing to do is to adjust. Working in a moneymaking company compare to an academe industry was hard. Knowing the people around the workplace, adopting to their work culture, working in a new team, doing all of these was hard, at least for the first time.


Since the students was working in a different industry there were times that some of his assignments might not work or doing some tasks were shaky because there was a feeling that the way he work was not the ‘right’ thing to do, again, at least for the first time. Believe it or not it’s true. Example of a risky task is administering the inventory of the servers, checking their share names, checking the storage limit and checking the users who have access to that server. If there’s something wrong, like you accidentally deleted some users to access that server, someone might call in then blaming whoever answers the phone, asking why they cannot access the server. And the hardest part in communicating with the client, that is, to explain your side, what really happens and get them satisfied. Even if attending the calls in the helpdesk some users asking why their account is always locked out even though all you need to do was to unlock them in the USER MANAGER.

Gaining experience and new knowledge were the reasons why the student was taking his internship program. Like knowing the different application run and used by the Globe Telecom. Troubleshooting user’s problem and assisting them, through phone, using computer applications, such as Dame ware utilities, on their application was the opportunity for trainee to gain new experience and knowledge. Once you solve one problem you don’t want to stop what you are doing, whether you are doing server configuration, network configuration, PC configuration, troubleshooting, and helpdesk portal. Another was acquiring information in technology development or impact of implementing new technology on the workplace like Service Packs for Windows and MS Office, upgrading network system, upgrading new hardware and applications. Not just that, internship gives the students expose to different career options, base on what he experience, whether he wants to be a computer programmer, System Consultant, work in call center, network administrator, security administrator or any professional field in the working world. There’s a lot of benefit that the company can get from their interns. Their fresh ideas and new way of thinking in solving problem were great addition to the company. Interns can also absorb the workload of the IP. So that they can get the work done and interns see how it’s done.

The student have already acquired qualities that he learn from school, to enhance this, his batch mates were given a project called HELPDESK PORTAL. This project covers the System Service Request (SSR) of globe users, Asset management and Library System and Trouble Ticketing Form of the Office Automation. This project will be written in phpscript, mysql and apache. This project was aim to practice student’s skill, in different approach that gives him depth understanding in his usual class works, like gathering information, analysis and design, system development and project management.

Six months of staying in the Globe Telecom teaches and reminds the student different lessons. Like don’t assume because assumed answers were not accurate and client doesn’t need this kind of answer because they don’t get satisfied. Think before you act. Don’t forget to think because your action might not help to solve the problem instead it may cause to a bigger problem. If you’re not sure on what you are doing then don’t be afraid to ask your Industry Professor or even your colleagues. Always be prepared because everyday problems get harder and harder because not all of the time you can be smarter than the problem. Time is Gold. In industry, every second counts, employees were being paid for what they are doing and if there is something wrong in the system, they can’t work, if they can’t work, money will be lost. Not only that, there’s a tendency that they get mad at you. And the best of all lessons was to realize that experience was the best teacher.”

 

 

If im a manager heres what im going to do.

First, try the calm down the situation.

Tell the entire group/division/section/department that there’s nothing to worry.

Tell them that actions are being done and system will be back to normal as soon as possible. But it is better to give them the exact time when is the system will work again.

Give them alternative way on how they can work again. Example, if accessing the e-mail outlook to them were very important and if they can’t access it using Microsoft outlook because of some problems tell them to use the web access mail. At least their network inbox are accessible, they can reach and reply to their client, and still they are working, no time is being wasted.

If the system have backup run it and let it be accessible to the user.

Don’t forget to escalate or to make isolation when encountering a problem. Try to look where the problem is look if it is in the network, somewhere in router/switch/hub/domain/cable/security policy, or in the operating system or in the system itself, coding/database/server or just a user problem.

here’s my thoughts regarding managers solving their problems or how they handle their problems.

although these were too general i hope somebody can get an idea.

Some managers solve their problems by calling in consultant or experts in the system where the problem takes place. But they find it too expensive.

Some managers used their common sense to solve their problems.

Some managers make interim or temporary actions to solve their problems. Some managers tend to make same action from the past that solved the problem.

Some managers tend to react emotionally when they encounter a problem.

its not easy to handle a problem sometimes you think its small but it is not. even when it is really small it can go bigger. just be ready to take it.

In this article, the CEO of Sony stated, We take risks for innovations
we believe in, and we put our faith not only in that great impersonal
called technology but in gifted individuals who have unique capacities to
imagine, and to engineer and manufacture what they imagine. And Sonys
products like robots and PS2 were derived from this statement.

The group agrees what the Sonys approach toward innovation. They produced
never been done products in the electronics industry. The PS2, a handheld
video game system, was come from great imagination that comes alive. It
was a game console with DVD player for watching box office movies multiple
ports to access the Internet for downloading software updates, can attach
hard disk drive, can be hook-up to a VCR, TV, keyboard and mouse. This
product can do multiple tasks and more useful. Sony can expect high
profits with their PS2.

On the other hand, this kind of mind set in organization, that is believes
in what they believe in, will bring them to losing track. Robots and PS2,
which is entertainment products, need too much investment unlike their
other products such as TVs, CD players, mp3 players and many more. Another
is that their competitor will make them behind in audio/video industry and
other digital products. Also PS2 products rely much on software games that
out in the market. If there were no good games to be played no one would
buy PS2.
